Glassing Facts
Glassing a board for strength is good in more ways than the obvious. While some people are concerned about weight, you can achieve a durable glass job without having a heavy board—a strong glass job doesn't have to mean a heavy glass job. Glassing a board too lightly not only equates to less strength, but it can also lead to a more dead-feeling surfboard in a very short time. The magic, lively feeling of a new board can be lost after only a few sessions. A stronger glass job enables a board to maintain its inherent qualities for a much longer period of time. Obviously, it also extends the life of the board and translates to more flow and glide. It also keeps boards out of a landfill and allows you to potentially keep a board for the next generation.
